Germany – Mercedes-Benz Plant, Rastatt

Noise from production facilities can be a real challenge for nearby communities. At the Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt, Germany this issue was taken seriously - and addressed proactively. In the loading zone area, more than 300 meters of double-sided, highly absorbent PHONOBLOC® noise protection panels with WAVEline wood-concrete absorbers were installed. The 10-meter-high noise protection wall not only significantly reduces sound emissions, but also helps lower CO₂, as the PHONOBLOC® wood-concrete absorbers are also true climate protectors. Through natural carbonation, they actively bind CO₂ from the air. Their porous wood concrete structure promotes the absorption of carbon dioxide, which gets permanently bound within the material.
