The Mont Blanc (Italian: Monte Bianco) on the French-Italian border is with 4,807m the highest mountain in the Alps. The Mont Blanc Tunnel, constructed between 1957 and 1965, has a length of 11.6km and connects Chamonix in France with Courmayeur in Italy. The route is a major transalpine connection and used by almost 6,000 vehicles daily. The road leading to the tunnel on the Italian side has since October last year an enhanced road safety as DELTABLOC® DB 120S-P concrete barriers have been installed over a length of 330m on the verge.
